Whew! Is it almost April already?!

Hello friends and readers,

We have been absent from the blogosphere as we’ve had an exciting couple of months of client delivery and conference presenting!

We’ve launched five Leadership Development Programs, with a combined total of 170 participants, within the past 3 months. We are proud to say that the Lumin team is delivering customized programming to each of these five programs, which are located across the country. Our LDPs present the participants with new information to build their leadership tool boxes, to practice those skills with one another, and to learn from the often vast amount of experience the participants bring to the program. We are off to a great start!

Lumin has also been busy presenting at conferences – most recently the Wisconsin City/County Management Association (WCMA) and the Society for Women Engineers. At the WCMA conference held in Wausau, WI, we co-presented with Marathon County Administrator, Brad Karger, on the development and launch of Marathon County’s LMDP (Leader & Manager Development Program). The program is connecting all 127 supervisors, managers, and department heads in the County, helping them build or hone their leadership skills, and preparing them to successfully manage performance in a new platform (i.e., previously managed largely by union contracts to a now, Post Act 10, performance-based pay system).

In addition, we are proud to be Bronze supporters of the MN Society for Women Engineers (SWE-MN) and spent a Saturday with this wonderful organization at the Medtronic Headquarters in Minneapolis. Lumin gave two presentations – one titled, “Your Personal Leadership Style” and the other “Building & Maintaining High Performing Teams”. We have spent the past 10 years working primarily in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) industries, helping organizations identify the technical experts who will also be good leaders (good managers and leaders are NOT always the same as the best technicians!) and training emerging leaders, new supervisors, or seasoned leaders on how to apply a different set of skills to the practice of managing people, as opposed to projects or things. SWE-MN is full of highly motivated and enthusiastic people and we thank them for including us in their day of development!

We will be back online next month to talk about Emotional Intelligence and Leadership.

Until then!
